Dec 4, 202111:30Now PlayingKeeda Haynes turned her personal story of defeat and betrayal into motivation to help make a difference in her community.
In 2002, she helped her then-boyfriend to pick up some packages, believing they contained a cell phone and pager, but it was marijuana and she arrested and charged. Despite not knowing about the drugs, Haynes was convicted and spent four years in a federal prison.
During that time, she studied for the LSAT, the law school entrance exam. After getting out of prison, Haynes graduated from law school.
The author, public defender and former Tennessee congressional candidate, joins Yodit Tewolde on “Making the Case” to discuss her story.
All this and more on “Making the Case.”
