Girl Gets Drunk at Formal and Recklessly Drives Daddy's Mustang

On May 17, 2025 around 1:07 AM, Officer Matthew Fischetti with the Township of Union Police Department was dispatched to a report of a yellow 2006 Mustang that nearly struck a utility pole while headed northbound on Burnet Avenue. The caller also reported that the driver had driven the Mustang on the wrong side of the road. He canvassed the area and observed a yellow Mustang matching the caller’s description that was parked in front of 1717 Burnet Avenue. He advised dispatch and exited this patrol car to make contact with the driver.

The driver, later identified as 20-year-old Juilsa Gonzalezrosas, told the officer that she was heading home from a formal event at Costa Del Sol Restaurant (2443 Vauxhall Road, Union, NJ). As he was speaking with her, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Julisa was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises after Officer Steven DeJesus arrived on scene to assist.

Officer Ferreira asked her where she was coming from, and she admitted that she had celebrated her friend’s birthday party at Arirang (1230 US 22 W, Mountainside, New Jersey) earlier that evening. After leaving Arirang, she returned to her residence and had another birthday shot. She later decided to get McDonald’s, but crashed on her way shortly after she left her house drunk. After she refused to be transported to the hospital, Julisa was asked to perform field sobriety exercises.

Officer DeJesus first administered the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, he observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Julisa failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step and used her arms for balance. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Julisa failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and displayed a lack of balance.

Based on the reports of her erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, her indicators of impairment, her admission to consuming alcohol at the formal earlier that evening, and her inability to satisfactorily perform all the field sobriety exercises, Julisa was placed under arrest for operating under the influence. The vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law.

Julisa was transported to the Township of Union Police Department for further processing. The Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.13%, which was significantly higher than the legal limit of 0.01% for drivers under 21 years of age. Once they finished processing her, Julisa was eventually released to her father Julio pending her court appearance after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Julisa’s behalf.

Julisa was issued the following citations:

-Operating under the influence underage (39:4-50.14)

-Reckless driving (39:4-96)

Court records indicate that on October 30, 2025, Julisa was found guilty of operating under the influence underage, while the reckless driving citation was amended to unsafe operation (39:4-97.2). As a result of her convictions, Julisa’s license was revoked for 30 days and she had to pay a total of $503 in fines.
