Than Orn was driving his car when the police tried to pull him over driving without headlights. As it would turn out, Orn was also driving on a suspended license and having just smoked crack cocaine. Perhaps impaired in decision making from said crack, Orn decided to drive his car to his apartment complex rather than pulling over.
Even when in the complex however, Orn did not stop the car. He continued driving in a unsafe way, including driving on a sidewalk and driving his car *in between* two cop cars.
What happened next is in dispute. The police shot Orn, and Orn is now paralyzed, but there is a question as to whether the police were justified.
In today's legal analysis, we discuss qualified immunity, and whether the police that shot Orn can be sued for the shooting that left Orn paralyzed.
