During a House Rules Committee meeting on Dec. 17, Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., and Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., debated whether the White House was given ample opportunity to call witnesses in its defense during the impeachment process. Raskin likened the House impeachment inquiry to a grand jury seeking an indictment against President Donald Trump and said the “trial process” would take place in the Senate where Trump will be allowed to call additional witnesses. The House Rules Committee meeting aimed to determine the rules that will govern the full House vote on the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump. The two articles charge Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The vote is slated for Dec. 18.
