Kimye & Divorce Court: Taking A Look Into The World Of Celebrity Divorces

Kim Kardashian is known for breaking the internet, whether it’s her jaw dropping fashion styles, a new makeup tutorial, or even some lifestyle content, she’s a social media maven.

But this time, she’s trending for something a little bit different, and the headlines are saying she’s allegedly divorcing from her husband, Kanye West.

For this Bold Life segment, host Oni Higgins chats with a man who’s no stranger to divorce, the high profile NYC divorce lawyer Dror Bikel, to hear his professional advice on divorce.

Bikel says the first thing you need to know is if this is an amicable divorce or if it’s a high conflict divorce. For Kimye, there’s no doubt that they had premarital agreements. Therefore it will likely not be a high conflict divorce.

Let’s talk prenup. A prenuptial agreement has often a negative connotation. But, Bikel says that they can be very important for people who are getting married when they’re older or when they’re in their second marriage. So if you’re in your first marriage and/or if you’re young it might not be necessary to enter into a prenuptial agreement.

If you do end up going through with a divorce, how long will you be involved in court? And Bikel says that that all depends on the level of conflict. If the conflict is minimal to nothing and the divorce is amicable it could last merely a matter of months. If the conflict is unending, and the couple is fighting like cats and dogs over assets and custody rights it could go on for years and years!
