Should we break up Big Tech?
Thatβs the big question in todayβs Millennial Minute. Our host, David Grasso, is joined by our friend, political strategist Ajay Bruno, and tech expert and managing partner of Starship Capital, John Meyer to discuss what they think is the best move for America to make regarding Big Techβs big influence, and if we should break up Big Tech.
Would this create any major ramifications? Meyer says, yes, there will be some. He further states that when a big company is broken up into smaller companies, a main priority becomes how can we maintain the user experience and the happiness of the general public. So therefore if a big company, like Amazon for example, were to break up we would see a lot of benefits to that.
Bruno states that a big tech break up isnβt a bad idea as he says big tech directly targets conservatives, citing the Parler app deplatforming experience. The deplatforming of the Parler app to happen to any other company that relies on Big Tech for whatever reason Big Tech decides.
Will this stifle further technological innovation? Are we just metaphorically shooting ourselves in the foot? What needs to be done, and should the government get involved in breaking up Big Tech?
