Burnout is something we have all felt in the past two years and it continues to creep back into our daily lives. Unrealistic expectations leave people feeling worn out and fatigued as they struggle to catch up in the workplace. Korn Ferry, a consulting firm, polled about 700 professionals in September. They discovered that 89 percent of them were experiencing burnout.
Here are some suggestions for dealing with workplace burnout. Ask yourself questions to figure out what's causing your burnout. Questions like, "Have my sleeping habits changed?" "Has it been more difficult for me to concentrate?" "Is my body in any physical pain?"
Next, adjust your goals and expectations. Don't take on more than you can handle. If you take on too many responsibilities, you will put yourself under unnecessary stress, which will harm both you and the company. Set new boundaries by saying "no" to extra tasks. Most employees want to satisfy others, and while this may make you feel better about yourself, it will leave you more stressed and with a larger to-do list.
People view burnout as a mental health issue, but it is actually a workplace issue. Don’t be afraid to take some time off because you need a mental break.
