Will Tennis Star Djokovic Be Banned From Australia? US In Talks With Russia! | Oh My World!

Boris Johnson Has A Party

Boris Johnson and his team hosted a garden party in May 2020, while the rest of the UK was subjected to extremely strict social distancing restrictions. Outside, Brits couldn't see anyone unless there were just two of them and they were six feet apart. People were literally holding Zoom funerals as Boris Johnson and his team partied. Boris Johnson has since issued an apology.

US-Russia Talks To Prevent War

This week, the United States and Russia held diplomatic discussions to see if they might defuse tensions along the Russia-Ukraine border. Unfortunately, not much occurred. Russia has been performing live-fire drills with troops and tanks along the Ukrainian border. In order to stop, Russia has requested that NATO never admit Ukraine as a member, and that NATO remove troops and weaponry stationed in former Soviet nations that are now NATO members. These requests are strange because Russia is not a member of NATO, therefore it is odd for them to dictate NATO's policy or have a vote on whether Ukraine becomes a member one day. Now the US made it clear Russia's proposal was a nonstarter. However, they arrived prepared to compromise on other military-related concerns, such as the location of specific military equipment or the magnitude of NATO's military exercises in the region. Unfortunately, little progress was made. The positive aspect is that both the US and Russia appeared to be genuinely interested in talking, and this might be an excellent time to air any complaints. On the negative side, the possibility of conflict here is a real threat.

Novak Djokovic Drama In Australia Continues

To recap, Djokovic landed in Melbourne, Australia, last week, and his visa was revoked because he did not have a valid exemption for the country's vaccine requirement. Then a court said he may stay. However, Australian authorities are now challenging that judgment, especially because Djokovic's explanation does not line up. He claimed his exemption was due to the fact that he acquired COVID on December 16th, but subsequently acknowledged he didn't isolate right away and lied on other areas of his visa application. So Australia is deciding whether to ban him from the nation for three years, which means he won't be allowed to compete in the Australian Open during that time. And now it's opening a whole can of political worms for the Australian Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the French, who are still furious at being shut out of the nuclear submarine contract, have said they would take Djokovic.
