Before viewing age-restricted content on YouTube, users must now prove their age. When creating an account on the gaming site Roblox, you are asked to provide government identification. Tinder requires users in Japan to provide a government-issued ID before they may use the service. These modifications are intended to better safeguard Internet users. Will these developments, however, raise concerns about what would happen if these organizations faced a data breach?
If you have to submit a government ID, there is a risk that hackers will take your personal information. These adjustments may make it easier for folks to avoid catfishing or posing as someone else online. Those who have liked keeping their identities hidden may be forced to divulge more information than they are comfortable with.
