While the fashion industry enters the metaverse, just as you dress your body in the real world, you dress your avatar in the metaverse.
Many common clothing options are free, but if you want to dress in unique apparel from big-name companies, you'll need to connect your Ethereum wallet in order to make a purchase.
Fashion items from well-known brands are now being sold as NFTs on the blockchain. Gucci, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton have all jumped on the virtual fashion bandwagon. In fact, they just organized a fashion week in Decentraland, a virtual environment. Prepare to have more alternatives as dressing in the virtual realm eliminates many of the physical constraints that exist in the actual world.
Whatever you purchase is immediately available; you will never have to wait for shipment, and you will never run out of your size for designers. According to NPR, the virtual world is more accessible and frees creativity from the constraints of training, expensive materials, or money. You can literally make clothes out of whatever you want but at the end of the day you cannot wear any of them in the real world.
So are you excited about fashion in the metaverse? Would you spend money on fashion you can never wear? Let us know in the comments below.
