Is China Really Going for a Taiwan Takeover? Analyzing the US Military Movements

Is China going to attempt a takeover of Taiwan? The US military has just quadrupled the amount of soldiers it has in Taiwan. Right now. It's just a couple hundred. But this represents the largest deployment of American troops to the island nation in several decades, and it's clear that the US is doing this to send a message to China.

China has, of course, threatened a takeover of Taiwan a bunch of times in the past. But America seems to be worried that this time the Chinese are for real. Now, while it's entirely possible China and its leader, Xi Jinping, take the gamble, it's probably unlikely to happen because a Chinese invasion will likely be a suicide mission for China and its leaders.

Remember, unlike Russia, for example, which has decades of modern battle experience, China has never really fought a war. Its military is completely untested. As we've seen in the Ukraine situation, even Russia, with all its military experience, has had little success and taking on its much smaller neighbor.

Russian weapons have proven to be no match to those of the American-supplied Ukrainian forces, and the nation has suffered a huge amount of casualties and its war against Ukraine, which no one predicted. But China would have an even harder time in Taiwan than the Russians have had in Ukraine.

Taiwan, of course, is a much wealthier and more technologically-advanced nation than Ukraine is, and it's also an island, which means it's way harder to capture, and it will require a great navy to pull it off, which China definitely does not have. The other thing working against China is that the country's food and energy supplies are very unstable.

Russia's economy may not be that impressive, but Russia is largely self-sufficient because it's one of the biggest producers of food and energy in the world. China is on the opposite end of the spectrum. It's completely dependent on the outside world for food and energy, meaning that if the West imposed the kinds of sanctions on China that it has on the Russians, the communist-led nation would completely collapse.

Still, even an unsuccessful invasion of Taiwan would cause a ton of economic turmoil for America and the world since Taiwan produces most of the world's semiconductors, which power our modern societies. So, it's worth it for America and its allies to do whatever they can right now to dissuade China from trying anything cute. Xi needs to understand that an attempt on Taiwan is game over for him.
