East Idaho Eats: The Grille in Ammon

AMMON—VO: The Grille in Ammon is a local restaurant that specializes in hearty homemade breakfasts and lunch.

SOT: “We have delicious omelets, we do a lot of omelets, lots of French toast,” server Katrina Bottcher says.

SOT: “The Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich (is) one of my favorites also,” server Barbara Littleford says.

VO: The restaurant is run by a mother and son duo, Pam and Doug Ferguson. Since opening up shop last April they’ve been working hard to become a local favorite.

SOT: “People just come back. We love having them come back,” Bottcher says.

VO: Every dish in the shop is made from scratch. Owner Pam Ferguson makes a sweet strawberry jam that customers rave over, and some are willing to eat it straight from the jar.

SOT: “Everybody comes for the jam,” Bottcher says.

STANDUP: Today I’m trying The Grille’s signature homemade jam on French toast. If you’re not feeling adventurous you can get it on regular toast as well.

VO: Servers say the strawberry jam couples with almost any breakfast favorite.

SOT: “Their biscuits, or their French toast, or the pancakes, some of them put it on their pancakes,” Littleford says.

SOT: “I don’t know what’s in it, but everybody says she should start selling it because it’s so good,” Littleford says.

VO: If you’re looking for an evening dish the Grille serves prime rib on Friday nights.

SOT: “The Prime Rib Dinner takes a whole plate just for the meat, and another plate for the side dish. It’s so good and juicy,” Littleford says.

VO: The Grille is open Saturday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. If you’re coming to The Grille know that you won’t leave feeling empty.

SOT: "Homemade and lots of it, you never go hungry,” Customer Teresa Hodges says.

SOT: “Good reasonable price for the amount of food you get you don’t go away hungry that’s for sure,” Littleford says.
