5:01Now PlayingThis episode of Fact Sheet is the first in a series of two. In today's episode I discuss the controversial topic of stereotypes. I make the point that we tend to dismiss negative stereotypes due to the fact that they are stereotypes, while we tend to endorse positive stereotypes, simply because they are positive. I also explain that stereotypes may sometimes contain an element of truth. This means that the best way to respond to stereotypes is not always to simply dismiss them out of hand, but to consider whether you may be contributing to breaking these stereotypes through your actions.
