5:06Now PlayingRepresentatives from the Trump Organization are expecting criminal charges to hit the organization TODAY, with other possible charges coming against CFO Allen Weisselberg. Donald Trump and his children are NOT expected to be hit with charges today, but the investigators in New York aren't done yet. This could be the beginning of the end, or it could just be a lackluster conclusion to the entire saga. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Well folks today is the day. A lot of us have been waiting for, for quite some time. Today's the day that criminal charges are likely predicted to be coming against the Trump organization itself as part of the ongoing investigation in New York. Now, what does this mean? Well, first we got to rewind the clock about 24 hours yesterday, two representatives from the Trump organization said that they were informed that the charges were coming today. Thursday, there was also lots of media speculation that CFO, chief financial officer of the Trump organization, Allen Weisselberg could also be criminally charged today. And a lot of that, a lot of the charges that we know of, um, and again, the, the DA's office had been pretty tight-lipped about what exactly is coming today. So basically we have to kind of extrapolate information from what's available. If the charges today criminal charges are against both the Trump organization and Weisselberg, it is likely due to the fact that they were able to find evidence that Weisselberg and the Trump organization did not pay taxes on gifts to executives. In other words, small potatoes, this, this is
Kind of nothing almost.
And I, I know I hate to burst everybody's bubbles with this, but that's what we're looking at. Uh, possibly coming down today, they could shock us. They could come out with some real hardcore criminal wrongdoing here who knows, but, uh, all signs seem to pour into, Hey, you didn't pay taxes on a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of gifts to your executives for Weisselberg as a person facing those charges. Probably looking at fines, possibly, uh, maybe couple months, uh, in jail, not even prison, just, just jail, maybe depending on the, you know, level of cooperation from Weisselberg. So that's something to be on the look at, uh, look out for, excuse me, later today, what kind of charges they hit Weisselberg with? That's gonna kind of tell us at least a little bit about what's going on with the ongoing investigation as for the Trump organization.
If they do in fact, get hit with criminal charges for not paying taxes on some of these gifts, they're going to be fine, and then they're going to be fine. Um, there's a small chance that they could get some kind of sanction put on them, which would limit, uh, the way they're able to conduct business and what kind of business they're able to conduct. But I seriously don't think that would happen for such a minor charge. Um, so again, we'll see on that. So the big question, what about Trump? What about the kids? Well, all signs seem to point to none of them being criminally charged today, but those close to the investigation say that, Hey, this thing is not over yet. Folks. We got a lot more stuff to investigate. There could be plenty more charges coming down the pipeline, or there couldn't be,
We don't know
That's, what's so crazy about this, right? This is an ongoing investigation. You know, again, as I mentioned, they're looking at the issue of, did you pay taxes on this, but they're also looking at, did you over inflate? Did you, uh, underestimate the values of properties in order to get loans from the bank? So what we have right now really is a separate issue. This is regarding taxes on gifts to executives. So that's why Weisselberg would be the one to kind of go down first here. And none of the Trump individuals would.
So if
The investigation does continue, it is going to look into whether or not, uh, other figures that the Trump organization, which would be daddy, Don, Don, Jr. Eric Ivanka. Did they lie to the banks in order to secure loans? Did they lie to federal authorities, tax authorities about how much the properties were worth in order to pay fewer taxes? Those are, uh, questions that remain to be answered. Those are questions that we do know investigators have been looking at. So that's something that could be coming down the pipeline in the future. But the big takeaway is that charges are coming. The Trump organization is going to be criminally charged today
And Hey,
That's a positive step forward, right?
