Another week, another iconic brand douses itself in five-star and Bud Lights itself on fire.
Jaguar's rebrand is captioned "Copy Nothing" - but it copies every anodyne diversity virtue signalling advert from the last decade. It pretends to be daring - but it's hack and totally establishment-approved.
They also seem to forget that Jaguars are exclusively bought by rich middle aged white guys. This would've been the perfect time to bring out an ad with James Bondy type guys, hot babes, cool cars going really fast. Instead, Jaguar's brand department are about 5 years out of date and just want to sell to androgynous egg people.
Bizarrely, I went on the LinkedIn page of Jaguar's head of branding and he's bragging about the ad and being congratulated on the incredible reach and buzz around it! As if "all publicity is good publicity" (Gary Glitter told me that).
Goodbye Jaguar.
