State Sergeant Kevin Witte was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany. He was killed in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near his vehicle during combat patrol.
