8:30Now PlayingIn an effort to move Governor Walz and leaders closer to a budget agreement, Senate Republicans made a second budget offer Monday, May 13, proposing an additional $100 million dollars in spending over the 2020-2021 biennium. Of the $100 million dollar offer, $75 million is earmarked for additional education spending, and the remaining $25 million dollars for public safety efforts, including the hiring of additional correctional officers.
Governor Walz and House Speaker Melissa Hortman rejected the proposal, claiming that the additional money proposed by the Senate Republicans would come from the Health Care Access Fund.
