19:41Now PlayingThe Senate passed a measure Wednesday, May 15, that would help the students financially harmed by the sudden closing of Argosy University.
According to bill author Senator Paul Anderson, R-Plymouth, the Eagan-based school closed its doors March 8, leaving about 1,000 students in financial hardship. In addition to losing school credit opportunities, many students also did not receive from the school the state's grant and loan funds designated to cover their living expenses. Anderson explained that Agrosy University kept the state grant and loan funds to cover both the students tuition costs and the living expenses. The bill would allow students to access their state grants and loans directly, so they can attend another institution.
In other action, the Senate okayed the placement of a plaque on the State Capitol mall in honor of World War I Veterans.
