The recommendation for the state to contract with a private vendor stemmed from a recommendation brought forward by a blue ribbon commission and supported by Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders. King addressed the committee, explaining that the risk continuing with MN.IT, the state's IT agency handling MNLARS, is greater than moving to a private vendor.
The purpose of the joint meeting was informational and no action was taken on legislation.
