Facilities have implemented aggressive measures such as restricting visitors and community meals for residents, leading to greater isolation for the at-risk population, according to Toby Pearson of Care Providers of MN. Speaking on behalf of LeadingAge Minnesota, Kari Thurlow requested legislative action on measures that would increase the long-term care workforce, improve funding for adult day-services and reconsider the strategy for step-down providers. All testifiers acknowledged that the lack of personal protective equipment and insufficient testing are creating a significant strain.
