1:04:38Now PlayingA bill that would extend workers' compensation benefits for nurses, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, health care providers, personal care attendants, corrections officers, and other front line workers addressing the COVID-19 pandemic won the complete approval of the Senate Tuesday, April 7. The bill, having received House approval, is expected to be signed into law by Governor Tim Walz.
Under the measure, the workers only would need to provide Covid-19 tests results to acquire the benefit. The legislative action followed an earlier push by first responders about the need to ensure that they would be able to provide for their families should they become ill while performing their jobs.
