On 25th May, the Tamil Nadu government allowed 17 industrial estates in around Chennai to begin work again, except for those in containment zones and barring workers from containment zones.
One important industrial estate is located in Ambattur where more than 20,000 units operate providing working to nearly 1.3 lakh people.
Several Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises that have opened after nearly 2 months are now worried about getting future orders and the labour hands.
Questions are also being raised on why the Government encouraged the return of migrant workers when it could have assured them work and provided them shelter!
