Even as thousands of migrants are struggling to reach home from Karnataka, the government of Karnataka has cancelled nearly 15 trains to UP, Bihar and other states. Trains that were supposed to leave on Wednesday and Thursday have been cancelled and migrants left in the lurch. Over the past week, thousands of desperate migrants have been swarming Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on hearing news of trains departing to their respective states. As per the Divisional Railway Manager of South Western Railways, the government has merely written a letter seeking cancellation of trains and not cited any reason for the same. When Mirror Now spoke to Suresh Kumar, the COVID-19 in-charge in Karnataka, he too was unaware about the reason for cancellations.
