But after demise, the party went through a downslope and following a major drama, AIADMK now has no General Secretary but Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselavm as Convenor and Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy as Co-Convenor.
Things were appearing to go smooth for the party until a question was raised about who would be the next CM candidate. Seller Raju, Minister for Cooperatives has stated that after Election, all MLAs will decide as to who will be the next CM but Rajendra Balaji, Minister for Dairy Products, apparently refuses to agree to it and has proclaimed that EPS will CM again. Other leaders from the party were yet to express their opinion on the matter.
Meanwhile, AIADMK is also facing difficulty from its ally party in the State as new appointed Vice President VP Duraisamy of BJP has claimed that in 2021 elections completion will be between DMK and BJ, leaving AIADMK out of the equation. The only response from AIADMK so far was Fisheries Minister Jayakumar who had mentioned that the 'comment' could be taken as VP Duraisamy's personal one and not that of Tamil Nadu BJP.
