The police hastily cremated the victim claiming her father and brother's presence which is completely ruled out as the as the policemen can be clearly seen lighting the pyre in the video footage. Earlier, the police claimed that they sought the victim's family permission which again proved baseless.
A 19 year old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh was gang-raped by four upper caste men in Hathras District on 14 September. The victim succumbed to her injuries in Delhi's Safdarjung hospital. She was left in a pathetic condition with her tongue chopped off and the body paralyzed. Her death has sparked outrage with the Bhim Army workers, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party blocking to protest in the National Capital demanding justice for the girl.
The victim's kin stated that the family was not even given the girl's last remains and they doubt whether it was their girl.
