Kanjurmarg land which state govt owns is approximately about 41 hectares near eastern express way. This site is approximately 7-8km away from Aarey car shed.
Principal opposition party BJP has criticised This decision of Mahavikas Aghadi Govt. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said this decision will cost extra Rs 5000cr burden on the state and tenure of the project will also increase. Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis called it "Unfortunate decision to shift Metro Car shed from Aarey to Kanjurmarg and that too just to satisfy ego! This decision will increase the cost of the project by at least ₹4000 crore and this cost escalation is assessed by the committee appointed by this Government."
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray had made it clear that State Govt wants to save the only green patch which is there within the city.
