1:59Now PlayingOn Friday, transport and trade unions observed a "Bharat Bandh" or national shutdown to protest rising fuel prices and "draconian" changes to the Goods and Services Tax Laws to protest against rising fuel prices.
The Confederation of All India Traders said that the protest called at 1,500 locations across the country was expected to benefit 40,000 traders' associations. The All India Transporters Welfare Association also reported that a "chakka jam" or road blockade will be observed. In certain areas, road transport services were also affected.
