Sir Martin Sorrell begins by addressing the subject of America's world influence. He then proceeds to talk about the significant overcapacity in most industries touching on the change in capacity in the American and Chinese automotive markets. Topics like disintermediation, the web dis-intermediates legacy companies including advertising agencies, publishers and newspapers.
Changes include how the retail industry is putting pressure on the manufacturers; procurement and finance are becoming more powerful in companies, particular post laymen.
As companies become more globalised there are big changes in global structures and local structures. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is important for sustainability for any business as its vital to keep the consumer happy, he uses the oil industry as an example of this. Finally he concludes by saying planning, creative execution and implementation is critical.
