The U.S. government is collecting billions of dollars in immigration fees and then refusing to process the applications. 🚨 Three overlapping policies have created what has been described as the largest fraud in the history of the US immigration system, exceeding one billion dollars in fees for services never provided. First, legal entry was banned for citizens of forty countries, including Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, and Nigeria. Then, benefit applications like work permits and green cards were frozen for people from those same countries already living in the United States. On top of that, immigrant visas were paused for seventy-five more countries, effectively blocking people from ninety-two nations from permanent immigration. These bans impact more than five hundred sixty thousand people who would otherwise qualify for legal residence. But here’s the reality: the government is still accepting applications, still collecting fees, and still scheduling interviews, all while knowing that it will not approve a single one. Families are paying thousands of dollars to sponsor spouses or children and getting nothing in return. No approvals, not even denials. Consular officers were reportedly told not to warn applicants about these restrictions. Cubans are the most affected, with hundreds of millions in fees collected.
