YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe next time someone says immigration policy is carefully planned, remember this story. 🚨 A proposal to place ICE agents in airports during a government shutdown reportedly started with a talk-radio caller named Linda from Arizona. She suggested using ICE agents to fill in for missing TSA workers. The radio host liked the idea and promoted it on television that same night. By the next day, the plan appeared on social media from the president as if it were official policy. Inside the administration, officials were caught off guard and gave conflicting explanations about what ICE agents would actually do at airports. When a TSA worker was asked about the idea, his response was blunt. He explained that becoming a certified TSA officer takes five to six months of training, and he could not imagine what ICE agents would realistically be able to do besides standing near checkpoints or exit lanes. For immigrants and asylum seekers, this is not just an airport staffing story. Placing immigration agents in airports can create a chilling effect on travel for anyone involved in the immigration system. Families with pending cases, people traveling to court hearings, or those picking up relatives could suddenly encounter immigration enforcement in a space that used to feel routine. Policies created impulsively rather than through expertise often produce more confusion than security. ⚖️ I’m Brian Manning.
