HEARTLESS: Amazon sends “thoughts and prayers” to workers killed in tornado

If your boss forced you to come to work when there is supposed to be a tornado, would you be able to say no? At Amazon, workers were put in just such a position over the weekend when the deadliest tornado in living memory tore through six states.

Workers at Amazon’s facilities in Edwardsville, Illinois were forced to come into work, and stay there, even as national weather alerts were sounding their highest alarms. 6 workers ended up dying at that facility, one as he hid in the bathroom, which was the extent of the safety facilities being offered by management.

In response, your friends at Amazon have offered their thoughts and prayers for the family, and unlimited free prime movie rentals for the immediate families of the deceased (we’re kidding about the last part… for now). At least 45 Amazon employees made it out safely, and the company will donate $1 million to the Edwardsville Community Foundation, as well as transport, food and water to survivors. Such generosity from the richest corporation in history!
