How long until the American right tries to convince us that it was actually the left who supported Putin this whole time? In the days following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, right wingers who had previously sung the praises of a guy who “would never call you racist,” were suddenly turning on Putin and calling him all the bad names he surely deserves.
But just a few short days before, Fox’s party line was that Putin isn’t an enemy of the United States, and since he’s an enemy of the left, he’s probably a friend of theirs. Russian state media even went as far as rebroadcasting Tucker Carlson’s show with Russian subtitles on the eve of the invasion to give Putin the shein of legitimacy.
This has changed rapidly, and already the right is in full blown projection mode. Suddenly, the United States isn’t sending enough military equipment, even though they supported the Trump administration in the withholding of $250 million of military aid in exchange for any dirt on Hunter Biden. What?! After a decades long love affair between these deviant agents of white supremacy, the American right is suddenly out in a cold Russian winter. Not every right-winger is changing their tune however…
