7:04Now PlayingThis year alone, with only six months out of the year under our belt, over three hundred separate pieces of anti-LGBT legislation have passed in states and cities around the country.
This legislation broadly discriminates against the queer community, targeting trans people specifically. Lawmakers across the country are making moves to stop trans youth from participating in the sport of their own gender identity, and to attack gender-affirming care for those under 18 with the intention of transgender healthcare services for adults as well.
That being said, three states have notably bucked the trend, thanks to their governors. In Indiana, Kansas, and Utah, conservative governors vetoed legislation that would ban trans women and girls from competing in sports. In Kansas, the legislator was barely able to sustain the veto.
