YouTube Description
as posted by the channelNow that the future of Democracy has a fighting chance, thanks to the surprisingly terrible results for Republicans among American swing voters and a relatively high turnout from young voters, what comes next for Democrats? Should Biden run again in 2024, as seems likely? What should Democrats do between now and then to set themselves up for success? All this and more was discussed with our guests for this week’s triumphant return.
What Biden is able to do still depends a lot on how the results end up in Georgia, since an extra vote in the Senate will mean that corporate Dems like Sinema and Manchin’s influence will be reduced, and also how well or poorly Republicans are able to keep it together in the house. With at least a 50-50 Senate, however, Biden will still be able to appoint as many 30 year old public defenders to the federal judiciary as possible (we hope).
In the other chamber, now that the House has been officially called for Republicans, we’re getting some sense of what they think their priorities will be. That being said, with this pathetic of a majority, House Republicans will have a hard enough time holding onto their leadership positions as Trump Republicans try to make things a circus for Democrats, as well as for their own leadership, as they crawl over each other for an opportunity to lick the big orange man’s boot… yet again.
