In case you missed it, Republicans are using their newly won majority in the House of Representatives to talk about the issues that matter most to the American people: Hunter Biden. Republicans have tried to run on this “corruption” for a number of years and it’s never gotten them much, but it’s not like they have better things to do.
The Republican led House Oversight committee, which has some of the most expansive powers of any congressional committee (where the real action happens) is the body investigating the egregious crimes of Hunter. Its chairman confirmed recently that it had requested “documents, records, and communications” from Hunter Biden, Eric Schwerin (Hunter’s business partner), and even James Biden (Hunter’s brother).
Thankfully, there are some Democratic members of the committee who are able to make real use of the platform it provides them with. “A whole hearing about a 24-hour hiccup in a right wing political operation, that is why we’re here right now,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Through her questioning of a former head of Twitter’s content moderation team, we learned that Twitter had repeatedly ignored and even changed its own specific guidelines for hate and abuse in order to keep Donald Trump tweeting on the platform.
