In ancient history, there was a Mithraic ritual called a tauroctony (bull-slaying). It was conducted in underground vaulted temples with star-painted ceilings. There are multiple depictions of Mithras stabbing sword into shoulder of bull, blood flowing. In the constellation of Taurus itself, the Pleiades sits almost perfectly on the astronimical bull shape and the Mithraic interpretation is suddenly very clear. It’s symbolizing the meteor stream.
This is ritual encoding knowledge of astronomical threat - not abstract myth. It is the specific observation of cosmic danger emanating from Taurus/Pleiades preserved through ceremony.
