Judge Delivers Another Legal Smackdown To Ron DeSantis

A judge in Florida has decided that Ron DeSantis' ban on mask mandates cannot be enforced as he appeals a previous decision that struck down the ban in its entirety. This is not a good sign for the Florida governor, and the likelihood of him being successful in his appeal has already taken a major dive with this ruling. Yesterday, judge John Cooper, a circuit court judge here in the state of Florida reversed, actually his previous ruling, and got rid of a stay that he had put in place on Republican governor Ron DeSantis' ban on mask mandates as well as DeSantis' decision to punish school districts who implemented mask mandates anyway. So what this means to, you know, break free of the legal jargon is that the judge said, you know what, I'm not leaving your ban on mask mandates in place while you appeal this ruling, which means effective yesterday, when that order came down, any school district here in the state of Florida can put a mask mandate in place and they cannot be punished for doing so. We had already seen following the previous ruling by judge Cooper, DeSantis puts sanctions against two school districts here in the state who defied his order and put mask mandates in place. Those sanctions are now no longer enforceable, thanks to this judge's order.

Now DeSantis is appealing this, and what's funny is that as the judge was issuing this ruling, DeSantis was actually giving a press conference where he said, I have no doubt, you know, that this judge is going to leave the stay in place. So the ban on mask mandates is still totally in effect. Wow, you couldn't be more wrong, buddy. I mean, dead wrong, because as you were saying that, your ban on mask mandates got struck down. The question here is, are these school districts going to take this opportunity? Are they going to put these mask mandates in place? Down in South Florida, in the last three weeks, one county has seen 13 teachers die, 13 teachers. That doesn't include the multiple other school staffers who have also died in that one county. One of them had 15 in 10 days, 15 in 10 days. Our teachers are dropping dead. Students are going to the ICU with COVID. Parents are getting irate when their kid has to come home and quarantine because they've been exposed to somebody and these are the same parents, by the way, who don't want us to have mask mandates. You don't want masks in place. Then you deal with the repercussions of that.

And you have to take a week off work so that you can be home with your kid who's quarantined because nobody was wearing masks and COVID is running rampant in your kids' schools. We can fix this. We can absolutely do better than we currently are here in the state of Florida, highest death rate here in the United States of COVID. But Ron DeSantis clearly has taken the side of the virus. Ron DeSantis wants COVID to spread far and wide, based on his actions, that is the only logical conclusion I can come to. He has no problem killing off his base. He has no problem harming our children with this virus. And he still had the audacity to stand there yesterday and say, I don't know why masks became a political thing. They became a political thing because of people like you, Ron, people who made them political. You know, the same guy selling don't Fauci my Florida gear on his website doesn't know how masks became political. It's because of you, Ron. And the deaths in this state, that's also because of you.
