There’s no denying that vaccines have been around forever, but COVID-19 is still unlike anything the US has experienced. There has been a large amount of fully vaccinated individuals who still contract the virus, though 99.9% of cases did not result in hospitalization or death. Reed raised the question as to whether or not people received doses that weren’t stored properly or possibly expired. She added that she’s “in fear” of the number of breakthrough cases. Dr. Anthony Fauci told Hill directly that there’s data to confirm that the vaccines are highly effective and safe. Reed said she believes the messaging has been failed, noting that health experts previously said Americans could “let their guard down” once vaccinated, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t encourage the vaccine.
