On Aug. 6, the state had the highest number of new COVID-19 cases per capita of any state in the country, with an average of about 653 new infections for every 100,000 residents.
Michael Osterholm, epidemiologist and director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said last week that, “If Louisiana were a country, it would have the highest rate of COVID-19 infections in the world.”
Courtney Jackson, a registered nurse in North Louisiana, joins her uncle, Charles Blow, on “Prime” to talk about the conditions inside the hospitals.
