Drunk Woman WRECKS her Neighbor's Car at Over DOUBLE the Limit

Around 7:39 PM on January 11, 2024, Officer Gregory Dorfman with the Westwood Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Clairmont Avenue. He arrived on scene and noticed that a 2015 Jeep Cherokee had struck a parked 2024 Chevy Traverse. The Jeep had sustained heavy front-end damage on the passenger side while the Chevy Traverse had sustained severe back-end damage on the driver side. Officer Dorfman initially made contact with the owner of the Chevy before making contact with the driver of the Jeep, who was identified as Sini.

Sini told the officers that she was headed to the Woman’s Club and that she had just left her house nearby. She admitted that she was looking at her phone and texting at the moment she struck the Chevy Traverse. Officer Dorfman asked her if she had anything to drink, and she admitted to having a glass of wine earlier that evening. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Officer Dorfman called for Sergeant Dean McCarroll to come on scene and assist with field sobriety exercises.

Sergeant McCarroll started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, and he observed indicators of impairment. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test and it was administered by Officer Dorfman. During the Walk and Turn test, Sini failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step while displaying a lack of balance. The third exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Sini failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. The final exercise was the Modified Romberg Balance Test, and it was administered by Sergeant McCarroll. She did not perform this test satisfactorily.

Based on the motor vehicle crash, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to satisfactorily complete the field sobriety exercises, Officer Dorfman placed Sini under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was placed under arrest, her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. Officer Dorfman transported Sini to the Westwood Police Department for further processing.

At police headquarters, Sini was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and agreed to submit breath samples. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.17%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After she was processed, she was released to her neighbor after she signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Sini’s behalf. Sini was issued the following citations: Operating under the influence, careless driving, use of hand-held device, and failure to maintain lane
