Drunk Girl Blows OVER DOUBLE the Limit on Thanksgiving

On November 27, 2025 at approximately 1:51 AM, Officer Blake Powers with the St. Charles Police Department observed a white 2016 Hyundai Elantra driving without headlights on Prairie Street. He activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over. Officer Powers advised dispatch of his location and made contact with the driver, who was identified as 23-year-old Elise Watson.

He told Elise that she did not have hear headlights on. As he was speaking with Elise, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She initially told him that she was coming from a house party, but she would later admit to coming from a bar. She was also the designated driver that evening. After Officer Wessendorf arrived on scene, Elise was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

While Officer Powers initially attempted the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test on the sidewalk, it was later determined that she would be transported to the lobby of the St. Charles Police Department to perform the field sobriety exercises because it was cold outside. Officer Powers attempted the HGN test again at inside the lobby of the station, and he observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. He also observed vertical nystagmus. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Elise did not touch heel-to-toe on each step, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Elise failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete.

Based on the odor of alcohol, her admission to drinking earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Powers placed Elise under arrest for driving under the influence. Since she was cooperative, she was escorted over to the booking area without being placed in handcuffs. A subsequent search of her vehicle revealed the presence of multiple open containers. At the station, Elise agreed to provide breath samples. Her breath test results indicated a BAC level of 0.192%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%.

Elise was charged with the following:

-Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2))

-Driving under the influence – over 0.08 (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(1))

-Illegal transportation of alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-502(a))

-Driving without lights when required (625 ILCS 5/12-201(b))
