Bartender Blows OVER DOUBLE the Limit After Drinking 5 Coronas at Work

On January 10, 2022 around 1:48 AM, Officer Sihoon Chung with the Leonia Police Department observed a white 2021 Honda CR-V speeding on Grand Avenue while headed northbound. As he began following the vehicle, he observed the driver swerving between lanes. He then activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over on Grand Avenue at the T-intersection of Harrison Street. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Windi Achegiron.

As he was speaking with Windi, he detected the odor of alcohol. Windi was also having trouble locating her documents. Windi initially denied consuming any alcohol, but she later admitted to drinking. Based on the officer’s suspicion of impairment, Windi was asked to perform field sobriety exercises after Officer Javier Urena arrived on scene.

Officer Chung started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Chung observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Windi failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step, turned improperly, and took an incorrect number of steps. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, but Windi claimed she was unable to perform this test because she had too much to drink.

Based on her erratic driving, her indicators of impairment, the odor of alcohol, and inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Windi was then placed under arrest for operating under the influence. Her vehicle was impounded by for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Officer Chung transported her to the Leonia Police Department for further processing.

The Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to her in Spanish and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.19%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. She admitted to drinking 5 Coronas at Amanecer bar in West New York earlier that evening. Once they finished processing her and issued her tickets, Windi was eventually released to a sober adult pending her court appearance after he signed the Potential Liability Warning on Windi’s behalf.

Officer Chung issued Windi the following citations:

-Operating under the influence (39:4-50)

-Speeding (39:4-98)

-Failure to keep right (39:4-82)

Court records indicate that on May 2, 2022, Windi was found guilty of operating under the influence. As a result of her conviction, Windi had to spend 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center and pay a total of $640 in fines. The other 2 citations were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Following this DWI arrest in Leonia, NJ, Windi was later arrested again for DWI in Palisades Park, NJ on February 24, 2024. She was arrested yet again for another DWI in Palisades Park, NJ on July 4, 2025. This was followed by her fourth DWI in Fairview on August 27, 2025. Windi also has numerous other traffic citations on her record.
