Prostitute and Serial Thief Arrested Again After Stealing from ShopRite

Around 11:28 AM on January 18, 2025, Officers Michael Juliano and Kevin Wilkins with the Elmwood Park Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at the ShopRite (180 Broadway). The officers arrived on scene at the same time and made contact with store employees inside the loss prevention office. They were informed formed that the alleged thief attempted to leave the store with $160.79 worth of unpaid merchandise. Once she was apprehended at the entrance, she was detained by store security until the police arrived.

The alleged thief did not have any identification, but she was eventually identified as Cassandra L. Romano. After the officers gathered additional information from store employees, Cassandra was placed under arrest. Officer Julian transported her to the Elmwood Park Police Department for further processing. Cassandra was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and eventually released with a summons pending her court appearance in the Elmwood Park Municipal Court on February 25, 2025.

Cassandra failed to appear in court, so a warrant was issued for her arrest. Cassandra was later arrested again for shoplifting (2C:20-11B(1)) in Clifton, New Jersey on November 9, 2025. Cassandra has failed to appear in court on the Clifton charge as well, so another warrant for that case has been issued. As of February 18, 2026, Cassandra has multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest.

-Burglary (2C:18-2A(1)) in Dover, New Jersey on August 23, 2015

-Theft by unlawful taking (2C:20-3A) in Hanover Township, New Jersey on July 9, 2015

-Prostitution (2C:34-1B(8)) in Hanover Township, New Jersey on March 27, 2015

-Theft by unlawful taking (2C:20-3A) in Hanover Township, New Jersey on March 16, 2014

-Theft by unlawful taking (2C:20-3A) in Parsippany, New Jersey on May 15, 2012
