Woman's "Anxiety" Goes Into Overdrive After She Gets Caught Stealing from ShopRite

Around 10:04 PM on March 16, 2025, Patrolmen Marc Larrea and Frank Martini with the Palisades Park Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at the ShopRite (201 Roosevelt Place). They arrived on scene and made contact with store employees near the cash registers. They were informed that a woman only scanned some of the items at the self-checkout counter while attempting to leave with $102.62 worth of items that were not paid for.

Once she was apprehended at the entrance, she refused to come inside the loss prevention office. After the officers arrived on scene, the woman attempted to run from the officers. The officers immediately apprehended her, and had her sit on the bench. The suspect was identified as Page Nadia Ristick, and she was instructed to sit on the bench. Patrolman Martini went inside to review the surveillance footage, which indicated that Page did not pay for meats and coffee, which raised the total value above the $75 threshold where the store would press charges.

As she was detained, Page became very anxious and apologized multiple times. Page was eventually placed under arrest for shoplifting. Her sister-in-law was asked to pick her up at the station when they were ready to release her. Page was placed in the patrol car and transported to the Palisades Park Police Department for further processing. She was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and eventually released a summons pending her court appearance.

Court records indicate that on May 22, 2025, Page’s charge of shoplifting was downgraded to Disturbing the Peace (Ordinance 214-2). As a result, Page had to pay a total of $540 in fines.

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
