Karen Read Retrial - DAY 1 - Opening Statements - Live watch and attorney analysis

A year ago, we watched this trial unfold over weeks and culminate in a hung jury. Undeterred, the Commonwealth is trying a second time to convict Karen Read of second-degree murder in the death of John O'Keefe, alleging that she struck him with her SUV in a drunken rage and left him to die in the snow. But as the days turned into weeks in the first trial, we waited ... and waited ... and waited for the Commonwealth to prove that John O'Keefe died from a vehicle strike, while we wondered why all the people who were present at the house where he died were acting so shady.

In trial number two, we have a new lead prosecutor, new members of the defense team, new evidence, and almost certainly new strategies. Opening statements should give us a road map of what's changed since the first trial and where the parties have adjusted their cases to try to break the stalemate from the first trial.
