Scarlett Johansson Suing Disney
Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for breach of contract because according to her the contract stated that “Black Widow” will get an exclusive theatrical release. However, “Black Widow” was made available for a premium upsell on Disney’s streaming service Disney +. According to Scarlet Johansson, her salary was based on back-end payments from the box office sales of the movie, which were significantly lower as a result of Disney’s decision to put “Black Widow” on Disney +. Just like movie theaters, Scarlet Johansson is claiming that streaming has reduced the box office sales of this movie. As a result, Johansson claims this limits earning power for all those involved. Do you think Scarlet Johansson has a point? Does Disney owe her more than she is receiving? Will it hold up in court?
Founder of Nikola Trevor Milton Indicted On Three Counts of Fraud
Trevor Milton, the founder and former CEO of electric car company Nikola, was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of fraud. He was charged for lying about “nearly all aspects of the business.” Trevor Milton claims he is innocent and that these investigations are incompetent. He is right now out on $100 million bonds secured against two of his properties. The company went public back in June 2020 and prosecutors claim Milton lied about the company’s technology, products and future sales in an attempt to pump up the stock value for his own gain at least back in March 2020. The prosecutors also claim that Milton used a SPAC to take the company public to target amateur retail investors looking to make money on a lower price stock and in turn making Milton richer. Since Trevor Milton’s arrest, the stock has plummeted. How does this sound to you? Do you think Trevor Milton is guilty?
