If you're looking for an electric car to help you avoid high gas prices, I've got some bad news for you: electric cars are now subject to inflation as well.
Tesla recently announced pricing increases, with cars now costing 5 to 10% more. The cheapest Tesla on the market costs around $47,000, and you can't buy Teslas with Bitcoin anymore, so forget about it.
Currently, Teslas account for around three-quarters of all-electric vehicles on American roads, and several more brands are taking deposits. Rivian, a Tesla rival, attempted to hike costs on those who had already put down deposits but had to immediately backtrack and apologize.
Elon Musk, the Tesla founder, claims that inflation is affecting all of his enterprises, and if the world's richest man is complaining about it, you can bet that everyone else is spending more to get less. Elon says he'll keep his bitcoin and other physical assets to get through this inflationary period.
In the end, there is no way to avoid daily living cost inflation. Welcome to the new normal, in which the cost of everything is steadily increasing.
