While the federal government investigates cryptocurrency as part of President Biden's executive order, it appears that some cities and states are moving forward with crypto acceptance.
Mayor Steve Adler of Austin has proposed two initiatives that will make cryptocurrency payments a part of everyday life in the city. Most of us are still unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies, and governments are only just beginning to consider them.
The ideas of Austin Mayor Adler would allow residents to invest in crypto and use it to pay for taxes, tickets, and other official affairs like driver's licenses and hunting licenses.
The proposals asked Austin city officials to look into producing a city currency, which would be a crypto token that Austin residents could spend around the city.
Austin would join New York, Miami, and the state of Colorado in accepting cryptocurrencies for official payments.
