The Democrats may lose the midterm elections if they take the youth vote for granted. The two youngest groups, Millennials and Gen Z, account for more than 30% of voters in 2020. Joe Biden was elected President thanks to their support.
However, according to Gallup polling, President Biden's favor among young people is at an all-time low. Only 41% of millennials approve of Biden's work, and only 39% of Gen Z approve of his handling of the presidency. That's because more than half of Millennials and the younger Gen Zers see themselves as independent voters.
They are less interested in party politics and are more inclined to swap sides if they disagree with how elected leaders handle issues.
Democrats fear losing their narrow majority in Congress if they don't act before the November elections, with fewer than half of the millennial vote on their side.
