The newest Florida man is probably richer than you.
Typically, Florida makes the news for the wildest reason like unfortunate gator encounters, crazy weather, and other news insanity.
Florida is evolving, though. It is currently the top destination for wealthy people, particularly baby boomers hoping to retire in the sun and save a ton of money on taxes.
According to a research study, 20,000 people with incomes over $200K recently relocated to Florida.
Why? Florida does not impose an income tax.
I'm from Florida, and before the state of Massachusetts issued me one, I had no idea what a state income tax form looked like.
In contrast, the ultra-rich in cities like New York City pay more than half of their income in local, state, and federal taxes.
So if you ever wondered why people are leaving it all for Florida, the weather helps. But it has a lot to do with taxes.
